August 7th-13th was Dental Health Week. The week was aimed at highlighting the importance of your oral health. This year the theme was Anywhere Anytime. The theme was aimed to educate our patients that oral hygiene can be done anywhere and at anytime and we had a lot of fun showing that you really can brush or floss anywhere.
Brushing and flossing when it suits you is better for your overall health and wellness than skipping it completely. We recommend brushing in the morning and at night, flossing once a day ideally at night. In recent years we have noticed people with busy schedules and shift workers aren’t able to comply with this set of ‘rules’ so we often hear that they are missing brushing their teeth a few times a week. This doesn’t need to be the case. You really can brush and floss anywhere and at anytime as long (as you have your tooth brush handy).
Brushing at the gym, or after lunch or any other time is possible and is better than skipping it because you are too rushed.
Follow these four simple steps from Australian Dental Association to keep your smile healthy.
- Brush 2 times a day
- Floss once a day
- Reduce sugary foods and drinks
- Book your regular dental check up
