Gold Fillings

Gold fillings are an excellent long-term option for small restorations, particularly for patients who prioritise durability over aesthetics in posterior teeth. While they may be less suitable for highly visible areas, they offer exceptional strength and longevity.

The placement and preparation for gold fillings is a more involved process compared to tooth-coloured alternatives, typically requiring two to three appointments over several weeks, rather than a single visit.

Although the initial cost is higher than other filling materials, this investment is often justified over time, as gold restorations tend to be more durable and may reduce the need for repeated replacement over the years.

The next three photos are of a patient with a gold inlay done at Nundah Village Dental.  Notice that you can’t see the filling at all from the front (in the second back tooth).

Please be advised gold fillings may not be an option for all cases and you are best to speak with your dentist to discuss the best option for you.
